International Exchange Plaza revealed the international features of Nomi city

11月16日（土）に2回目の開催となった「国際交流ひろば」には、市内外から多くの参加者と来場者、およそ1,000人が集まり、会場は大いに盛り上がりました。
JAISTで学ぶ留学生や能美市で働く労働者をはじめ、能美の地域には多様な国籍、文化を持つ人たちが多く暮らしています。多くの日本人市民と外国人市民がボランティアとして参加協力し合って、ブースを出店したり、運営を手伝ったりしました。出店者や出演者から、「一緒に活動できてとてもよかった」、「全体がとても盛り上がって楽しかった」という声を沢山いただきました。
来場者は、ワールドキッチンで世界の12か国の料理を堪能し、市内外で幅広く活躍する国際交流団体の活動を知ることができました。特にワールドキッチンは人気があり、お昼ごろにはすでに完売したところもあり、最後には全ての国が完売となりました。今回の目玉の一つであったワールドステージでは、様々な国の文化を紹介しました。また、ファッションショーでは8か国の民族衣装が紹介されました。出店者や来場者の中にも民族衣装を着た方々が多くおり、目にも鮮やかな国際色豊かなものとなりました。
最後には、参加者全員が手をつないで、日本の歌唱「ふるさと」を合唱しました。それぞれが自分の故郷を思い、心のこもった歌が会場をひとつにし、一つの輪となりました。

International Exchange Plaza, was conducted for the second time this year on Saturday November, 16. It was a big success gathering about 1,000 participants and visitors from both inside and outside of the city.
There are many people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds living in Nomi city area, most of all JAIST students and workers employed in the city. Both Japanese and foreign citizens came together as volunteers to run booths and help conduct the event. A lot of participants and stage performers later expressed their joy from doing it together and having a lot of fun from the whole event.
Festival guests could enjoy World Kitchen with food from 12 countries and had a chance to learn about activities of organizations conducting international exchanges in a wide area in and around the city. World Kitchen was especially popular, some shops were sold out by lunch time. All of the food was sold out completely by the end of the event. World Stage was one of the main features this time, introducing culture of different countries. National costumes of 8 countries were introduced at a fashion show. There were also many participants and guests who were wearing national costumes at the festival in general, making it a colorful international feast for the eyes.
The final feature was all of the participants holding each other’s hands and singing a Japanese song “Furusato” (“Homeland”). Each participant must have been thinking of his or her own birthplace, and that heartful singing united everybody, joining each and every one into one circle.
